The Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award


FT Prize logoThe Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award (originally the FT/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year) was established in 2005 to reward books offering compelling and enjoyable insights into modern business.

The 2017 winner was Janesville: An American Story by Amy Goldstein. The book explores the human consequences of the General Motors assembly plant closure in the American town of Janesville.

The Financial Times editor Lionel Barber will chair this year's judging panel. Joining him will be: Mozilla's Executive chairwoman, Mitchell Baker; Allianz's Chief Economic Advisor Mohamed A. El-Erian; London Business School's Charles Handy Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Herminia Ibarra; McKinsey & Company's Partner and Director of Publishing, Rik Kirkland; University of Chicago Booth School of Business's Norman R Bobins Professor of Economics, Randall Kroszner; Dambisa Moyo and Santander UK's Chairman Shriti Vadera.

The longlist will be announced in August, followed by the shortlist on 14th September and the winner, announced at a special dinner in New York, on 12th November.
