EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) comes into effect on December 13, 2024. All consumer products sold within the EU will be subject to these new regulations. The goal of the GPSR is to ensure that products are safe for consumers to use and to provide clear contact information for an EU-based Responsible Person (EU Agent) for inquiries regarding product safety.

At Foyles (a trading name of Waterstones Booksellers Ltd), we are committed to ensuring that all products we sell meet the highest safety standards. In line with the EU's General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), we ensure that all products on our website comply with safety requirements before they reach our customers.

For books, which are considered a low safety risk within their intended use, the EU Agent is typically the publisher or their authorised agent, such as an importer or distributor.

Contact details for this agent, including a digital address (email or specific website), must be provided on the book itself or its packaging. In practice, these details may appear on the imprint page of the book or as a sticker on the cover.

We are working with publishers to ensure they are aware of the regulation and have an authorised person in the EU. Making sure consumers have access to relevant information regarding product safety and any recall procedures.

If you have any questions about the GPSR or the safety of the products you purchase from Foyles (a trading name of Waterstones Booksellers Ltd), please don't hesitate to contact our customer service team.
