Dagger Awards 2010 shortlist announced
25th May 2010
The authors shortlisted for the Crime Writers' Association (CWA) Dagger Awards 2010 have been revealed.
In the Dagger In The Library award, which is determined by a writer's whole body of work, nominees include Simon Beckett, R.J. Ellory and Ariana Franklin.
Mo Hayder, Denise Mina and Chris Simms are the remaining authors shortlisted for the GBP 1,500 prize.
The judging panel said: 'The overall standard remains high. It appears to be harder for new authors to come through.'
It was also announced that Tonino Benacquista's Badfellas, August Heat by Andrea Camilleri and Arnaldur Indridason's Hypothermia are competing for the CWA International Dagger.
Other titles shortlisted for the award, which focuses on novels translated into English, are The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest by Stieg Larsson, Deon Meyer's Thirteen Hours and The Darkest Room by Johan Theorin.
Last year, Colin Cotterill won the CWA Dagger in the Library, while Fred Vargas scooped the international prize with The Chalk Circle Man.
