Ross Kemp to write debut novel
25th January 2010
Bestselling author and actor Ross Kemp will take his first steps into the world of fiction, it has been announced.
Following a move to Random House imprint Century, the actor will write debut novel Devil to Pay to launch a new series focusing on former soldier Nick Kane.
Devil to Pay, which is to be published in July, will be followed by a non-fiction book in October and a Nick Kane sequel in 2011.
The author has written non-fiction works such as Gangs and Ross Kemp on Afghanistan, in addition to making documentaries and acting on shows such as EastEnders.
Ben Dunn, publishing director of Century, commented: 'I am delighted that Ross is joining the Century list, I'm a huge fan of his bestselling books and thrilling documentary work for Sky.'
Kemp added that he is 'looking forward to a long and fruitful career' with Random House.
Earlier this month, former politics correspondent John Sergeant criticised the publishing industry for focusing on celebrity authors.
