Dick Bruna Exhibition

Tuesday 6th August 2013 9:30am - Thursday 29th August 2013 9pm 107 Charing Cross Road Exhibition, Free Event

Last month saw the 60th anniversary of the Queen's coronation, and this month it's time for another diamond celebration! It was sixty years ago, in August 1953, that Dick Bruna published his first book, The Apple. His unique style, with its bold black outlines and bright contrasting colours, along with the book's small square format (made especially for tiny hands) was a success and he went on to create another 123 books. Although he created many characters, he is perhaps best known for Miffy, the little white bunny that is now a recognisable face all over the world. To mark the occasion we are holding a special exhibition of Dick Bruna's silkscreens from throughout his long, illustrious career as a picture book author and illustrator, as well as a drawing competition for budding illustrators.

Tate Publishing are reissuing The Apple, alongside two other of his picture books, The School and On My Scooter.
