Cressida Cowell Opens the Children's Department at Foyles, Birmingham

An exciting children's section is the heart of any good bookshop and the brand new branch of Foyles at Grand Central Birmingham will be no exception, with a great, big, enormous Children's Department full of treasures for kids of all ages.

On Saturday 17th October, we're delighted to welcome an author who embodies the magic and wonder of storytelling, Cressida Cowell, author of the bestselling 'How to Train your Dragon' series (which is also a DreamWorks film series), as our special guest, to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Cressida will be on hand at 12 noon  to do the honours, which will be followed by a storytelling session featuring How to Fight a Dragon's Fury, the twelfth and final book in her much-loved series featuring Hiccup and the rest of his tribe of dragon tamers.

There'll also be an appearance from the Viking who appears in the new book, who'll be with us all day, posing for pictures and keeping children entertained. Children will also be able to get their faces painted as one of Cressida's dragons. There'll be refreshments in the form of squash and cupcakes too.

PLUS be in with a chance to win £100 worth of Foyles  vouchers as well as How to Train Your Dragon goodies, by booking your FREE place in the signing queue. Just email events@foyles.co.uk no later than 5pm on Friday 16 October and take your place in the queue no later than 11.15am on the day to be entered into the draw. Cressida will pick the winner at 12 noon.
