Grab a beer and a slice of pizza and join three new voices in literary fiction for our first New Writers event for 2017. Karl Geary, Nathan Hill and Emma Flint will be discussing their experience writing a novel and the process of getting published for the first time.
Screen writer, actor and now newly published author, Karl Geary’s debut novel, Montpelier Parade, is a story of chance encounters, longing and hope. Geary’s first foray into literary fiction draws inspiration from his work in film and his rain-soaked home town of Dublin.
Nathan Hill has previously been known for his highly acclaimed short fiction. His debut novel The Nix, however, is an ambitious, 600 page, New York Times bestseller spanning from the rural American Midwest of the 1960s to New York City, from Chicago in 1968 to wartime Norway.
From a young age, Emma Flint was fascinated by true crime writing. Realising quickly that it was difficult to make a career out of reading about murder, she instead created her own characters and stories and from that emerged her debut novel, Little Deaths.
They will be talking about their experiences with writer and editor, Alex Clark.
Meet three very different authors to look out for in 2017, discover the various ways to become a published author and be sure to come ready with your questions.
