International Women's Day Chibundu Onuzo, Ayobami Adebayo and Joanna Cannon

Wednesday 8th March 2017 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Free Event

We’re delighted to be celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day with three brilliant voices in literary fiction. Join Chibundu Onuzo, Ayobami Adebayo and Joanna Cannon as they discuss their latest novels, their experience of getting published and the importance of diversity and female voices in publishing.

Chibundu Onuzo, a Nigerian writer, is author of The Spider King's Daughter. Her second novel, Welcome to Lagos, is the story of Chike Ameobi who, after being tasked with killing innocent civilians, abandons the army and journeys to Lagos in search of a better life.

Also set in Nigeria but 30 years in the past, Ayobami Adebayo’s first novel Stay With Me weaves a devastating story of the fragility of married love, the undoing of family, the wretchedness of grief, and the all-consuming bonds of motherhood.

Joanna Cannon’s funny and vibrant debut, The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, looks at the complexity behind domestic life and the coming-of-age of two young girls growing up in 1970’s England.

Chairing the event is Sam Baker. Formerly the Editor in Chief of Red magazine, in 2015 she co-founded and launched The Pool, an online platform making interesting, inspiring and original content for busy women. Her latest novel, The Woman Who Ran, was published last year.
