Design as an Attitude: Alice Rawsthorn and Hans Ulrich Obrist in conversation
Award-winning design critic Alice Rawsthorn sits down with Serpentine Galleries Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist to quash the stereotypes surrounding design and celebrate its potential to change our lives for better.
In her new book Design as an Attitude, Alice Rawsthorn places design to the forefront, arguing the extent to which it influences every aspect of our lives and rallying against its dismissal as simple stylisation. From tackling the environmental crisis by helping us to live more sustainably, to revitalising local communities with social and humanitarian projects - and its use as a tool for political activism: from suffragette colours to pink pussyhats.
Join Alice as she explores the power of design with lecturer, curator and artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist – author of Somewhere Totally Else, a collection of short essays making the arts relevant and relatable to the world around us.
