The Perils of Perception: Why We’re Wrong About Nearly Everything

Thursday 13th September 2018 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Signing, Chargeable Event

We're often very wrong about the most basic facts. Whether it’s regarding our societies and how they’re changing, the state of the world today, or supposedly common knowledge, our preconceptions and the media can lead to perceptions that are sometimes extremely at odds with reality.

For the Perils of Perception, Ipsos’s Bobby Duffy draws on over 100,000 interviews across 40 countries to uncover our misconceptions on everything from obesity levels, immigrant numbers, trends in crime and terrorism, how much we need in a pension pot, the sex lives of young people – and of course Brexit, Trump and Facebook.

Duffy, Managing Director of the Ipsos MORI Social Research Institute and Global Director of Ipsos Social Research Institute, will give insight into the most startling misconceptions and, utilising data drawn from the audience*, demonstrate how and why we’re wrong about nearly everything.

Tickets: £8 standard / £5 Student or Foyalty member**. When purchasing a Student or Foyalty ticket, you'll need to bring a valid in-date Student card or Foyalty card with you.
