First You Write a Sentence Workshop with Joe Moran
The sentence could be described as the common ground where every writer walks. A great poet writes in sentences—yet so does the unsung author who came up with Items trapped in doors cause delays.
In this hour-long workshop centred around his forthcoming book First You Write a Sentence, acclaimed author and cultural historian Joe Moran (Armchair Nation; Queuing for Beginners) will explore the fundamental building blocks of good writing, whatever its genre or purpose.
Drawing upon sources ranging from the Bible and Shakespeare to George Orwell and Annie Dillard, and scientific studies of what best fires the reader's mind, Moran will demonstrate how we can all begin to write in a way that is clear, compelling and alive.
The workshop will be composed of a short presentation, interactive element and Q&A with the author – limited spaces available!
