After Sappho has inspired all sorts of journeys for us here at Foyles; Selby Wynn Schwartz’s Booker Prize-longlisted debut novel of pioneering women at the turn of last century has sent us off investigating the incredible real-life figures reimagined in the book, and the writing and wider artwork they produced. At our Charing Cross Road shop in London, we’ve mounted our Sappho in the Salon exhibition—and we’ve also curated a display of wider reading for customers too.
From Virginia Woolf’s classic novels to the less well-known work of Renée Vivien—from Sappho’s original surviving fragments to biographies by Diana Souhami—be sure to take a look through our recommended reading list below.
