Customer Reviews

An extraordinary artist's memoir with a foreword by a Booker Prize judge! So nice to see a memoir about a regular, perhaps almost anonymous person, leading an interesting life with its ups and downs, not a celebrity or public figure. Assume they will not be after this first publication? Julie Umerle's 'Art, Life and Everything' has a foreword by Booker Prize judge Colin Thubron, former President of the Royal Society of Literature, which is quite extraordinary support for a new writer! Her story as an abstract artist and painter living in London and New York with a disability, is a genuine and inspiring narrative of determination against the odds and a positive attitude, even when times were down. Looking forward to reading it again, for bits I missed on my next long train journey!
