Experimental Nuclear Reactor Analysis: Theory, Numerical Models and Experimental Analysis (Paperback)

£165.00
Pre-order for despatch on publication.

Synopsis

Experimental Nuclear Reactor Analysis: Theory, Numerical Models and Experimental Analysis presents a consolidated resource on reactor analysis, comprising theoretical concepts of reactor physics, dynamics and thermal-hydraulics. Sections cover various theoretical aspects required for the development of a computational model and experimental activities such as nuclear reactor physics, dynamics and control, and nuclear thermal hydraulics. They then apply these aspects to develop computational tools for modeling the thermal-hydraulic and neutronic behavior of reactors and explore experiments designed to verify results. This book serves as a complete guide, providing important theoretical background followed by more advanced exploration and analysis of experimental procedures and applications.

Where readers do not have access to a test facility, the knowledge and practical understanding obtained from this book will ensure they are equipped with a very detailed insight and understanding of experimental reactor analysis that is ready to apply to their own research and professional projects.

Antonio Cammi is Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano since 2006. Currently, Professor Cammi teaches graduate courses on "Dynamics and Control of Nuclear Plants" (since 2006) and "Experimental Nuclear Reactor Kinetics" (since 2012) as well as a doctoral course on "Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Generation IV Reactors". Professor Cammi's research interests are in advanced methods and techniques (multi-physics modelling approach, reduced order modelling approach, object-oriented simulators) for design and analysis of advanced nuclear reactors such as molten salt reactors and fast spectrum reactors. His research group is also involved in development of advanced computational methods for reactor analysis and simulation and experimental validation of theoretical and numerical predictions of nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics. Professor Cammi has co-authored more than 190 journal and conference papers and has contributed to several books on nuclear reactor simulation and thermal-hydraulics Dr. Andrea Borio di Tigliole has been the Director of the Interdepartmental Nuclear Research Centre of the University of Pavia for more than ten years and adjunct Professor at the Politecnico di Miano and at the Institute of Advanced Studies of Pavia (IUSS). He taught courses on experimental nuclear reactor physics and kinetics, accelerators and nuclear reactors, for both undergraduate and graduate students. He has been also been the Director of the post-graduate International Master course on "Nuclear and Ionizing Radiation Technologies" of the University Institute of Advanced Studies of Pavia. Dr. Borio's research activities were carried out in the fields of: nuclear reactor physics and kinetics (including benchmark of Monte Carlo codes for nuclear reactor core modelling), neutron measurements (including characterization of nuclear reactor neutron fluxes), nuclear fuel burn-up calculations, operation of nuclear research reactors. He has co-authored more than 90 publications in the field of Nuclear Reactor Physics, Nuclear Measurements and Experimental Nuclear Physics. Dr. Borio joined the International Atomic Energy Agency in 2012 where he has been Head of the Research Reactor Section and, currently, Programme Coordinator for the Department of Nuclear Energy
