Customer Reviews

I read this as someone who has been running my business as a side hustle for the past 2 years. I opened the pages whilst I was in the middle of a transition changing the services I offered and how I did it. But more than anything I had some big hairy goals for 2020 and knew that I would need eyeballs on my brand and work for them to be successful so I opened the book looking for a "PR plan" towards my big hairy goal of my Fearless Women conference in 2020 and what I got instead was a business shake-up. I read chapter by chapter being sure to use the sheets and writing my thoughts and answers in an almighty google doc. which took my business through it's paces starting with my why and who I am. Things like press releases and Media kits aren't a foreign language anymore as Lucy breaks them down so simply that even for a novice like me I feel confident trying my hand at them. This book is a workbook, a practical thing that I know I will dip back into as my business grows but more than anything it's written by a real person, a real expert with examples you can google; someone who has actually "walked the talk" and let's you know if she can do it, you can too! p.s. If you are hesitating on getting and reading this because you haven't set up your business, got your first client, set up your website and all those other things you have on your list DON'T! This is part PR part business-bootcamp and Lucy will walk you through the important bits.

I received an early manuscript of this after buying the author's '52 PR Tips' cards and talking to her about my work with startups. I loved this book as it is basically everything you need to know in order to avoid paying huge fees to PR Agencies. It takes a really modern can-do approach, de-mystifies the whole process of publicising yourself or your project and walks you through how to do it step by step. Lucy has a snappy, straight-to-the-point way of writing and avoids all the usual PR cliches which is a relief. Mercifully it is also also waffle-free. When I speak at events about my business life I often get asked if I can recommend PR services which I have always been reluctant to as it's such a hard thing to measure and so so expensive so now I can just say READ THIS INSTEAD.
