Richard Knight is a multi-award-winning BBC journalist. He is a former Today Programme senior producer - where he worked in the field on some of the biggest stories of the time, from Obama's first presidential campaign to the war in Iraq - and editor of the BBC's Current Affairs Radio department which makes many of the best-known news and current affairs programmes and documentaries on Radio 4 and the World Service. In that role, Richard created a number of very successful new programmes including The Inquiry, which explores complex global issues for an international audience of millions, and in 2019 he was executive producer of the hit podcast Tunnel 29. Richard is now Radio 4's commissioning editor for factual programming. Surprisingly, perhaps, he is also author of Say Ja to Hygge (Hodder & Stoughton), a parody, which was published in 2016 under the name Dr Magnus Olsensen. Before joining the BBC he (Richard - not Magnus) was a travel writer, contributing to The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Independent and The Financial Times.
