Synopsis

This work takes a comprehensive look at the emerging ASP industry from the services they offer to selecting the best one. Application Service Providers (ASPs) are growing in popularity because they provide companies with the ability to rent or outsource a variety of enterprise applications and services. This approach offers significant cost-savings and allows an organization to focus on building their business rather than the IT investment to run them. As the ASP industry continues to grow, it is critical that business managers understand how they operate and how to choose the right one for their needs. This book provides this much-needed information. Readers will gain a better understanding of the history of ASPs, definitions of ASP technologies, and the benefits and trade-offs of ASPS. ASP is a fast-emerging topic today because it offers significant cost-savings for companies who cannot afford their own large scale software applications like data warehouses and need to rent them instead. This guide includes criteria to help readers choose the right ASP for their organization and describes differing ASP services. It details the impact e-commerce has had on the ASP business.
