"Mission-Critical Active Directory", is a completely revised second edition that offers a straight forward approach to setting up and maintaining Active Directory with MS Windows Server 2003 R2 and SP1/SP2. In this new second edition, authors Jan DeClercq and Aric Bernard have based all material processes and problem solving on real cases and in enterprise environments world wide. The goals of this book are to describe the operating system and directory concepts introduced in Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2 and Active Directory (AD) and to provide recommendations for an enterprise class design. In reading this guide, the user is able to grasp the real value of the new technology and is able to understand how it can be applied to a large enterprise design. By providing multiple design options, the user is able to understand the pros and cons of each and how a particular decision may affect the overall design. It also explains the fundamentals of an Active Directory planning and design for an enterprise-class infrastructure; provides migration examples and considerations from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000, Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2003 R2.

It introduces new features in Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2003 R2. It performs a technical drill-down on how these features affect the operating system and how they inter-operate.
