Synopsis

Brian Lloyd was born in 1833 in England. He had a poor upbringing and as a young man was involved in petty crime. He was shipped to the Penal Colony in Australia. Assigned by a local sheriff to look after a farm after all its inhabitants were found dead, Brian began to amass the income from the farm. A friend who opposed him and wanted half the profit was ruthlessly eliminated. He was the first white settler to employ hundreds of Aborigines and encourage integration between them and the white settlers. Widely loved and respected, he was eventually knighted by Lord Carver the Governor General of Australia. Sir Brian founded a department store chain and built and donated a hospital, a school and ten large dormitories for the Aborigines and the needy. His son William married Caroline, the daughter of Lord and Lady Carver. He invited the chiefs of the Aborigines to the wedding. Sir Brian said "we shall all be inflated with pride to have Aborigines in the Governor General Residence, what a glorious moment." Lord Carver said at the wedding "I am indeed overpowered with elation to see some representatives of the Aborigines among us and I welcome you all."
