Winner of the Women's Prize for Fiction 2018

Kamila Shamsie’s Home Fire takes the Greek tragedy Antigone as its inspiration for an effortlessly contemporary novel. It’s a story of family and love, identity and belonging that explores what it means to be British and Muslim in the world right now. Powerful and  heartbreaking, Home Fire will live long in my memory.

‘I don’t think it’s people’s religious beliefs that tend to be the problem in politics; it’s the way that faith marks them as an Outsider that causes conflict.’ Read more of our interview with Kamila Shamsie on her Author Page.
