Synopsis

Terrible Beauty - that's ETA's reign of terror. The Spanish are reeling from yet more huge explosions in their largest cities. The Policia Nacional are unable to cope and they ask the British for help. Captain Gill Somers is half-Basque, half-English. MI6 need someone with her background and language skills to infiltrate a suspect ETA cuadrilla. She has a SAS close protection team led by Ricky Keane but all is not well with the troopers as festering enmities threaten Gill's safety. Using old friendships Gill makes contact with Herri Batasuna, the political wing of ETA Militar, and is soon working for a local politician, being drawn into subversive activities and making a name for herself as a troublemaker. Leon is the ETA commando's leader. A handsome, well-educated lawyer he uses his position to identify and attack Spanish targets. He is clever and careful but his weakness is women. One look at the lovely Gill is enough to set him on a course that could lead to his commando's ultimate destruction. Sucked ever deeper into ETA's inner circle Gill walks a fine line of duplicity as she struggles to maintain her cover, feed back vital information to MI6 ...and stay alive.
