The Mirror and the Light Draw Offer

Eight years in the making, The Mirror and the Light is quite possibly the most eagerly-anticipated book of our times: the third and final volume of Mantel’s epic, twice-Man Booker Prize-winning Wolf Hall trilogy.

In Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies—two of the finest examples of historical fiction on our shelves—we were immersed in the world of Tudor England, following the rise of Thomas Cromwell from blacksmith’s son to chief minister to the formidable King Henry VIII. And now, in The Mirror and the Light, we are witness to the final four years of Cromwell’s life—from the execution of his former ally Anne Boleyn, whose blood is firmly on his hands, to his own beheading without trial in 1540.

Mantel’s Cromwell is simply one of the finest examples of an historical figure brought to life in literature. So too her evocation of everyday life in 16th century England—from the upper echelon of power to the streets—reigns supreme. And her depiction of a nation on the cusp of transformation—the machinations that lead to its upending, and the opportunities created from its wake—make for one of the most thrilling, epic reading experiences in living memory.

We know how it ends. But that’s just the start.

And, through some courtly intrigue of our own, we’ve secured a handful of deluxe editions of The Mirror and the Light—each a first edition signed by Mantel, numbered out of just 500, with head and tail bands, a ribbon marker, and presented in a cloth-bound slipcase. With a retail value of £100, these deluxe editions will fast become one of the most sought-after ways to own one of the most essential books of our time, and are a fitting celebration of this final epic chapter of the Wolf Hall trilogy. So we’re giving them away.

That’s right: we’re selecting nine customers at random who pre-order online with us before midnight on 4th March 2020—who’ll not only get their copy of The Mirror and the Light, but will also receive one deluxe edition.*
