Towards Holistic Medicine (Hardback)

Awaiting publication

In recent years, systems biology seems to have encountered insurmountable obstacles. Precision medicine faces the problem of integration in disease regulation, despite the establishment of biomarker systems and the continuous discovery of new targeted drugs. Towards Holistic Medicine explores the development of modern medicine and the future medical model in the broader perspective of Chinese and Western medicine, biology, and even the methodological evolution of natural science in recent centuries. The book discusses how modern medicine will move past systems biology and precision medicine and toward holistic medicine.

Prof. Yuan Bing, Director of HK Modern Chinese Medicine R&D Center, practicing physician of the PRC and registered CMP in Hong Kong. In July 1983, Yuan graduated from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and received a bachelor's degree. During this period, he systematically studied the related courses of modern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine and attended a one-year clinical practice of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. In February 1986, Yuan completed the advanced computer software design course offered by the Ministry of Health. The course covered the fundamentals and included some specialized courses in computer software design.Since 2008, Yuan engaged in Chinese medicine theory, proprietary Chinese medicine, health food research, and clinical work at the HK Modern Chinese Medicine R&D Center. Under the auspices of the Hong Kong government, based on traditional Chinese acupuncture and cupping therapies, he has organized many kinds of physiotherapy equipment such as intelligent physiotherapy and eye massage apparatus.Yuan researched formulae and organized the development of a wide range of proprietary Chinese medicines and health foods. Six of these proprietary Chinese medicines are currently registered with the Hong Kong Department of Health and are now approved for sale in Hong Kong, such as "Shuanghua Jiedu Capsule" for treating influenza; "Guiling Bai Xiao capsule", for treating women's tumors; "Xiao Jin Dan capsule", for treating thyroid, lymphoid tumors; "Shu Chang capsule", for treating breast hyperplasia; "Niu Huang Jiang Ya capsule" for treating high blood pressure; and "Yong Quan Capsule", for treating uriasis.
