Bead embroidery is an easy way to add glamour to clothing and accessories. This inspirational book is packed with over 150 couture designs for borders, backgrounds, motifs, edgings, and fringes, using simple techniques and inexpensive materials.

Each motif features a beautiful photographed swatch, a clear diagram showing type and placement of stitches and beads, and a recipe of tools and materials.

Key skills are fully explained, from transferring designs to methods for beaded applique and direct application, and a handy stitch palette provides step-by-step instructions for all the embroidery stitches you will need.

Give an individual touch to a plain sweater with a pretty floral motif; add a funky sequined and beaded fringe to a vintage purse; create an extravagant encrusted bodice using a simple repeat design for full-on evening glamour.

Kenneth King showed an early interest in fashion and sewing through his love of Barbie (this caused his parents much distress). He started sewing as a teenager and by college had decided that fashion was his life. After graduating with a degree in Fashion Merchandising he worked as a window display person, before teaching himself everything he knows by first specialising in extravagant beaded evening hats. Soon he was selling to the rich and famous and was able to open a studio in San Francisco. His work is shown and collected by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the LA County Museum of Art. He has expanded his line to clothing, jewelry, other accessories, and some home furnishings. Kenneth has published numerous books in hardcover and CD form.
