Synopsis

Teddy bears are loved the world over, and here are forty of them - all small in size but big in character - for you to knit and crochet. Using material previously published in the Twenty to Make series as `Knitted Bears' and `Crocheted Bears', there are two basic bear patterns - one crocheted and one knitted - and forty different outfits to dress them up in. They include a hiking bear, complete with boots and a backpack, a beach-loving bikini bear, a sweet honey bee bear, a gardening bear and an artist bear, with her own crocheted easel and paint palette. Every bear has its own special character, and the reader is bound to find at least one they just have to make. Suitable for adults as well as children, they make ideal gifts, and of course there is nothing to stop the reader creating characters of their own that they can personalise to suit a particular person or occasion.

Uses material from 20 to Make Knitted Bears ISBN 9781844484829; and 20 to Make Crocheted Bears ISBN 9781844486335

Val Pierce's passion for knitting began when her father taught her to knit at the age of five. Later in life she began home knitting for yarn manufacturers, and since then she has made a huge range of items, from evening dresses to teddy bears. She later began designing items of her own, and before long Val's designs were appearing regularly in national knitting and crochet magazines. She also teaches knitting, as well as a range of other needlecrafts, to both adults and children. Val lives and works in Shropshire. www.crossedneedles.co.uk
