When a catastrophic storm tears Portsmouth from the mainland, the physical isolation quickly becomes something far darker and more permanent. Opportunists rise, power structures harden and the island's troubled history is weaponised to redraw the boundaries of identity, belonging and control.

Annexed follows journalists, citizens, lovers and survivors as the city splinters into those who adapt, those who resist and those who simply disappear. A former naval photographer secretly documents the creeping militarisation while two undercover government analysts attempt to track the extremist takeover from within. Ordinary residents must choose between complicity and courage, and between the safety of silence and the cost of speaking out. As the crisis deepens, long-buried tensions between Portsmouth and the mainland ignite into ruthless policy and brutal enforcement, leaving the vulnerable exposed and entire communities deemed "other".
