Basic Statistics: Tales of Distributions

This text is intended for courses titled statistics and behavioural statistics taken by undergraduates in departments of psychology, sociology, and education. It aims to help students analyze empirical data, learn to select proper statistical analyses, explain why an analysis is appropriate and calculate the statistics. Designed to help students develop the intuitive understanding of statistical reasoning, the book gives explanations and presents problems that emphasize the analysis of data rather than mathematical statistics, providing the student with a conceptual understanding of computational formulas. Problems are from the fields of psychology, sociology, nursing, biology, education and business. In addition, the author tells the history of statistics in a friendly style.
