Carnitine Today

This is a review of recent advances in basic knowledge about the role of carnitine in cell metabolism. It reviews the impact of carnitine therapy on Fas-induced apoptosis and ceramide metabolism in HIV infection. It also focuses on carnitine deficiency syndrome and the therapeutic impact on sepsis, chronic fatigue syndrome, Reye's syndrome and mitochondrial toxicity of nucleoside analogs.
