In 2003 Harley-Davidson will be celebrating its 100th birthday, confirming the extraordinary staying power of the company founded in Milwaukee by Arthur and Walter Davidson, and Bill Harley. This stands testimony to the unique bond between man and machine: the Harley riders from all strata of society, and the Harley motorcycle. The Flatheads, Knuckleheads, Panheads and Shovelheads, and the customised choppers with their chromed sissy bars and fish-tail exhausts are all compellingly photographed on location by Garry Stuart, and are examples of the extraordinary evolution of Harley into an American icon.
