Cochlear Implants is a compilation of papers presented at the 8th International Cochlear Implant Conference, held in Indianapolis in May 2004. Twentyfive years have passed since the initial clinical trials in cochlear implants, and although the advances for which patients with hearing loss have now benefited are unimaginable, there is still much to be accomplished. The Cochlear Implant Conference has become the premier venue for the dissemination and face-to-face discussion of the state-of-the-art research on all aspects of cochlear implantation in both adults and children. The present volume documents a point in time but more importantly, serves to trigger future research in the field of Cochlear Implants.
