Synopsis

Four Impostors by Benn Sowerby Francois Timoleon de Choisy after a dissipated youth spent dressed as a woman, seducing young girls, was ordained, became dean of Bayeux Cathedral and was elected to the Academie francaise. George Psalmanazar claimed to be a native of Formosa. He wrote a History of Formosa and a Formosan grammar. Cagliostro travelled widely throughout Europe, gaining notoriety as well as royal patronage, practising alchemy, occultism, healing and divination, He was the founder of the Egyptian Order of Freemasonary William Henry Ireland was a forger of Shakespearean letters, documents and a play who, aged only twenty, confessed his imposture.
