Gloaming: Folklore, recipes and crafts to spark glimmers of joy in the darker months

Gloaming is a collection of cosy crafts, soul-nourishing recipes and slow living activities inspired by stories and traditions from Scottish folklore.

Turning to her Celtic ancestors who were known for celebrating micro-seasons, Rosie Steer has reframed her mindset when it comes to Wintertime, choosing to embrace, rather than fear it. Split into four parts, Hairst (harvest), Samhain (Hallowe’en), Howe o’the Year (the winter solstice) and Waretym (earliest spring), this book celebrates the glimmers of joys throughout the darker months through step-by-step projects such as Clay Pressed Botanical Imprints and an Upcycled Hot Water Bottle Cover; easy-to-make bakes, like Spiced Pumpkin Loaf Cake and Clementine and Almond Buns; and stories of Scottish Winter folklore.
