I Presente!: US Latino Catholics from Colonial Origins to the Present

The original documents collected in !Presente! tells the tale of the changing nature of Latino Catholicism. Here one finds Junipero Serra narrating the inauguration of Mission Santa Clara in 1784 and Cesar Chavez giving a rousing speech to the Second Annual Mexican American Congress in 1968. In a church once dominated by the Irish, Latinos have become the largest ethnic component in the church today.
