Limbo ( 1952)

For eighteen years, neurosurgeon Dr. Martine has been hiding out on a remote island, a fugitive from the massively destructive Third World War that broke out in 1972. When a group of men with remarkable robotic-enhanced limbs visits the island, Martine decides it is time to return to America. There he finds to his amazement that facetious comments from his lost wartime journals have been adopted by an international movement dedicated to the eradication of human aggression by voluntary amputation, literal disarmament.
