MARITIME COMPENDIUM

This volume contains a selection of 2500 maritime and related illustrations which have been gathered together from a wide range of sources. Colour images, line drawings, diagrams and vignettes are amassed from sources that span graphic types from antiquity to the present day. Subjects covered include: ships and ship types; ropes and rigging; anchors and armaments; and battle scenes, marine views, as well as portreaits of naval heroes and villains. The book brings together a collection of visual sources material, and charts the history of maritime illustration.
