Quantitative Methods for Computer Students: An Active-learning Approach

Offering teaching material for a quantitative methods course for BTEC Higher National Computing, computing degree courses and other computing courses with a quantitative methods component, this book is accompanied by a free Lecturers' Supplement. The book aims to enable students to acquire a sound grasp of both the underlying mathematics of constructing an accurate and workable application, and the skills of mathematical model formulation and validation, interpretation of results and model evaluation. The three-part, activity-based structure is suited to students who have come to expect an investigative and problem-solving approach in their mathematical studies. Students first identify problems in realistic contexts and are then directed to the appropriate information on principles and practices to solve them. Further tasks and assignments (with and without answers) develop knowledge and skills.
