Serial Eater: Food Design Stories
Synopsis
The book Serial Eater
dissects 30 years of experimentation and reflection on the 'object'
food. Since its development in the 1990s until its actual status, food
design analysis helps us to understand how consumption habits and our
awareness of the food system have evolved.
What type of consumers
are we? How do we assess our impact on today's food production and what
are we willing to accept on our plates in the future?
In an often
anxiety-provoking approach to the future of food, food design questions
our behaviour, desires and doubts as eaters. It also proposes a more
entertaining vision of our relationship to food (Italian Futurists, Eat
Art, Marti Guixé...), whilst not forgetting its primary objective:
nourishing our bodies, eyes and minds.
From the origins of food design to current issues in terms of anthropology, jurisdiction and design.
Text in English and French.
