Sustaining Local Literacies

This volume is concerned with supporting adult literacy world-wide by focusing on the local context. General papers explore what is meant by local literacies and the significance of language issues. Case studies from South Africa, Malta, The Solomon Islands, India and Uganda provide local examples of how literacy is related to language choice and language planning, and the role of international agencies.
