Synopsis

Manuel Naranjo Martell's new publication, Tarde de toros, is a journey to the heart of a profession deeply rooted in the photographer's native land, bullfighting, and in one of the cathedrals of bullfighting: the bullring of the Real Maestranza de Caballería in Seville, which becomes a sort of laboratory where the author experiments with different techniques and influences. This book displays a very powerful work in black and white that has cinematographic reminiscences (among them, the shot-sequence that begins Martin Scorsese's film Raging Bull) and of the masters of the Japanese school of photography, such as Daydo Moriyama. AUTHOR: Born in Seville in 1988 and of North American descent, this self-taught photographer focuses his work on the sphere of culture - especially music - documenting the traditional popular festivities of his native Andalusia. He has worked in the cinema industry, theatre and fashion, and has portrayed national chefs of international reputation. His work has been published in media such as Rolling Stone, S Moda, ABC, El Mundo and El País, among many others, and he has worked for record labels and production companies such as Warner, Universal and Sony. 137 images
