Trails to Heaven
Synopsis
When an ancient Viking harpoon turns up in a newly dead walrus, the local Eskimos are baffled and the world of archaeology is riven by the prospect of rewriting the history of the North West Passage. Did Norsemen voyage across the top of North America to Asia? Wildlife officer Jack Walker struggles to control the fallout among traditional hunters beguiled by dreams of sudden wealth. Walker's search for the truth lays bare his own secrets from a brutal childhood. His investigation casts doubts on his father's suicide and the motives of a powerful Swedish benefactor. A dark ribbon of malediction unfurls across the Arctic tundra.
