Following his book "Upholstery: A Complete Course", David James has produced this book on practical upholstery. It features 30 projects covering 300 years of upholstery, including an early 17th century folding stool, a four fold screen, a Georgian wing armchair, a William IV day bed, an art nouveau drawing room chair and a modern two-and-a-half seater settee. There is also a fascinating glimpse of eight upholsterers at work who comment on their very different approaches to their craft. All aspects of the craft covered: frame making, filling, knots and stitches, borders and facings, cushion making, fabrics and trimmings.
