Capital Is Dead: McKenzie Wark in conversation

Thursday 24th October 2019 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

Discover the new mode of production replacing capitalism with writer and theorist McKenzie Wark—author of the ground-breaking A Hacker Manifesto—sitting down with writer and artist Diann Bauer to discuss her radical new book Capital is Dead: Is This Something Worse?

Wark will shine a light on those who own and control the flow of information, demonstrating how the all-pervasive presence of data in our societies has enabled them to take control of a brand new mode of production. As capitalism—its factories and big bosses—recedes into irrelevance, Wark will hypothesise on the system taking its place, as well as its unsuspected consequences. Drawing on a diverse range of sources—from the now-defunct Situationists to contemporary theorists—Wark will ask us to re-consider the dystopian reality of our fully networked society, and will offer us the tools to both challenge and change it.

The event will be followed by a Q&A and a book signing.
