Kitten: Stacey Yu in Conversation with Sarvat Hasin

Katie hasn't spoken to her mother in a year when her boyfriend James introduces her to his cat Silver. A small, vulnerable, incorrigible ball of need, Silver's acceptance of Katie cracks open something inside of her: an unravelling begins.

Kitten is a magnetic, stirring debut novel about an adrift young woman whose growing fascination with her boyfriend's cat ushers her into the possibilities of her own life -- but not without first threatening to unravel it.

Stacey Yu is a Chinese American writer. She grew up between Texas, Arkansas, and California and currently lives in London. Kitten is her debut novel.

Sarvat Hasin is a British-Pakistani writer. She holds a Master's in Creative Writing from the University of Oxford and began her career with the novels This Wide Night and You Can't Go Home Again, published in India. Her third novel The Giant Dark won the inaugural Mo Siewcharran Prize and was shortlisted for the Encore Award. Sarvat's highly anticipated fourth novel, Strange Girls, was published in March.
