An Evening with Zach Zimmerman and Phil Wang
Stand-up rising star Zach Zimmerman comes to Foyles to talk to Phil Wang about Zach’s collection of laugh-and-cry-out-loud essays, Is It Hot in Here (Or Am I Suffering for All Eternity for the Sins I Committed on Earth?).
A very funny exploration of selfhood, Zimmerman unpacks the pros and cons of exchanging a Bible-Belt-dwelling, meat-eating, God-fearing identity in exchange for a new, metropolitan lease on life: vegetarianism, atheism, queerness, and humour.
Zach Zimmerman is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. Zach’s essays and humor pieces have been published in The New Yorker, McSweeney's, Popula, Vulture, and The Washington Post. Zach’s first comedy album “Clean Comedy” debuted on the Billboard Top 10 and inspired a critically-acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and New York Comedy Festival. Zach was also named a TimeOut NY Comic to Watch, appeared in Grindr’s first stand-up digital special, and recently made Zach’s late-night debut on The Late Late Show.
Zach will be in conversation with Phil Wang. Phil Wang is a British-Malaysian stand-up comedian, writer and actor. He released his first Netflix special, Philly Philly Wang Wang, in 2021 and has since performed stand-up on Late Night with Seth Meyers, been interviewed by chat show royalty on That’s My Time with David Letterman, and his first book Sidesplitter: How to be from Two Worlds at Once was named a Times and Sunday Times Book of the Year.
