Synopsis

This work is suitable for solo cor anglais (or oboe). "Snake" is written in three sections. The first is rhythmic, free, and very chromatic. The middle section is rhythmically more measured and dance-like in contrast to the more improvisatory opening section. The final section includes rapid scale passages and arpeggiated figures and is extremely high for the cor anglais.
