“A great veteran of the skies”
(Paperback)
by Romy
There are lots of books written by veterans of WW2 but not many that are so easy to read and enjoyable. Doug really is an 'aero addict', from the time when he was a boy watching planes take off from Southampton airport, to his years as a night fighter pilot in the Second World War, then testing prototype planes in Gibraltar, to his retirement when he built his own S.E.5a (a WW1 biplane) and flew it performing amazing aerobatics with 'The Great War Display Team'. Doug has a wry sense of humour and this comes through in the book. Now aged 91 he has only just given up flying his S.E.5a. I'm so pleased he has written the book. His stories and the photos really conjure up past times.
