This is an ambitious book, whose topics range from “wokery” in British Universities and politics, to the history of slavery (including the Moorish slave trade and current slavery in India, for example), to the future of global politics in a world featuring a guilt-tripped West. I am happy to report that the book is lucid, highly informative, well-argued and -researched, and recalibrates many of our beliefs about the United Kingdom, in particular. For anyone interested in slavery, the book also contains what is the best summary of slavery that I have come across, pointing out the hypocrisies of 21st Century through incisive historical recall, and pointing out that slavery is something that all human societies have engaged in at some point. (E.g. I had no idea that the Chinese engaged in the slave trade under Arab influence.)
