A good if slightly formulaic entry into the alien universe. The story is very familiar, as are most alien books as they tend to emulate what makes us fans of the series. This is a good example of an alien book, well written, decent story lots of mayhem. I enjoyed it. But I love aliens. My only quibble is the lead character is just a tad too unpleasant.

But it's oddly written, and the story didn't appeal to me. There is lots of mayhem. I enjoyed it to a degree. I love aliens so I have bought the sequel to this book which attempting to read now but I'm finding it a real struggle. One quibble with cold forge is the lead character is just a tad too unpleasant. Not great.
