Reviews: And Away... (31)
“Bob Mortimer has a real talent for storytelling...”
(Paperback)
"And Away..." is warm, funny, honest. I loved Mortimer's tales of being painfully shy as a child, his confessions of setting off fireworks in the family home; the snippets of his life that he shares with us. He has a real talent for storytelling and for describing the people in his life, and it's all really open and engaging.
Fabulous! I would recommend even if you've never really thought to read about Mortimer before.

Wonderful book by one of the funniest humans on the planet. Thank you so much Bob for many years of entertainment, you are a comic genius
“Funny and revealing”
(Hardback)
For people of a certain age this is an appealing book, many of Bob's growing up experiences will resonate.
Regarding his career and life, the book is written in a very personal way and reveals lots about the opportunities and emotions he experienced
Great fun and well recommended
“Good”
(Hardback)
Bob Mortimer gives us a gentle, humorous look at his life in his charming autobiography. This isn't a comedy book, it's not a fictional account. I've seen reviews elsewhere that complain that the book isn't hilarious but frankly it isn't meant to be. Bob starts with his heart problems and then goes through his early life and career, his meeting with vic Reeves and the friendship and partnership the due have enjoyed since ending with his recovery from surgery and his new fishing partnership with Paul Whitehouse. The book is an enjoyable autobiography with moments of pain, humour and honesty.
“It's always the quiet ones...”
(Hardback)
A lifelong hero of mine. This is a gentle and very funny account of Bob's life and recent health scare. I read this in a day. His account of his childhood, the trauma of his father's sudden death and his deep love for his mother is all expressed with warmth and wisdom . It was fascinating to read about his early years and the terrible loneliness of his university life. I loved his lovely words of encouragement for the shy people of this world. I am very glad Bob Mortimer is in this world.
