Reviews: Azul (187)
“Great game!”
(Game)
We played Azul as a family and really enjoyed it.
It’s a beautiful looking game and is a quality game.
The idea is to tile your wall in the beautiful Portuguese tiles for a wall that would impress the king! Our son loved arranging the tiles even without the boards and we all really enjoyed it.
The only thing stopping us giving 5 stars is that the instructions were a bit confusing before we played (and only referenced her/she which we thought was an unusual choice). Once we got our heads around the game we loved it.
“Colourful, Addictive Game!”
(Game)
This is a really fun, addictive game for both families and adults. The game involves both strategy and a bit of luck! When you first read the instructions it seems quite complicated bit once you start playing it quickly makes sense. It would have been a 5 star review but the scoring was a bit complicated!
“Beautiful and unique”
(Game)
This is a beautiful board game that is very Mediterranean/European inspired. Gorgeous mosaic tiles and cute bag to keep them all in. It will take several practice sessions to get going but you will soon learn to love this unique game.
Worth persevering with, great fun with family and friends.
“If you’re looking for a new and fun challenge, this is it!”
(Game)
This is the most complicated game we’ve tried playing as a family, but we love it! My 7 year old quickly picked up the rules and aim of the game, and has even taught his 4 year old brother to play too. They wanted to play it every single day when we first got it! But it does require patience - it’s not a quick game.
Azul involves real strategy and forward planning, including working out how to get bonus points when the game ends. It also involves making choices and compromising over whether to pick up the starting player marker which loses 1 point.
The names of rounds and pieces are complicated for children but linked to the history/origin of the wall tiles in Portugal. Great for decision making, counting, following steps in the correct order.
Haven’t yet played with 4 people, but it works brilliantly with 2 or 3.
“Challenging beautiful Game”
(Game)
This game is for people who want challenging board game. Something different from others in the market. Rules are bit difficult to understand initially but once you get it then its lot of fun. Very good quality game will last for years to play with family and friends.
